Borders and Edging
Landscaping Borders
Landscaping borders are used to define, separate, and contrast areas throughout a landscape. Edging can keep bark and rock from spilling out of beds or pathways and simplify mowing. There are factors in choosing which border or edge will work throughout a project.
- Is esthetically pleasing?
- Does it fit within the project budget?
- Will the border or edge hold up to the application?
Concrete Edging
Concrete edging is now a very popular option with many colors, styles, and patterns to choose from. (Concrete does not hold up well to automobile traffic so we do not recommend its use along a driveways)
Polyethylene Edging
Polyethylene edging is the black commercial grade edge. It is less expensive than concrete. If installed properly this can be a very functional border. There are several different grades of polyethylene edging and some of the less expensive grades do not hold up. Landsite uses only the highest quality commercial grade edging. When polyethylene edging is installed correctly it will provide many years of lasting service for an affordable price.
Bender Board
Bender board is another option for edging it can blend in well to the landscape.
Aluminum Edging
Aluminum edging is another consideration. It is less noticeable than some of the previously mentioned choices and is highly durable.
Timbers
Timbers (6x6 pressure treated) make a great driveway border when properly installed. The timbers need to be drilled and pinned with rebar to keep them from moving. They can also be used in walls and stair systems.
Landsite professionals will discuss all the options available to you and help you determine which borders will suit both your budget and the aesthetics of your project.
